Artist's Statement

I have always been mesmerized by glass. Growing up in a Victorian house with stained-glass windows, I marveled at how glass alters light, with multi-colored sun puddles filling my childhood spaces. It was those memories that drew me to later work in stained-glass.

As a science major, I love the liquid qualities of a medium we think of as a solid. Through my experience as a potter, I appreciate the alchemical effects of heat on both clay and glazes (glass). My incursion into fused and cast art glass is the culmination of my enjoyment of working with both stained-glass and pottery, finding this exciting new medium with which to work.
